ROGIER VAN BEECK CALKOEN

Writer, director

Rogier is a director and writer based in Amsterdam. He studied at the Prague Film School and the Global Cinematography Institute. His work includes the documentary The Storykeeper, nominated at the Hot Springs Documentary Film Festival, and the fiction film Andersen and the Jinn.

He is currently developing a TV series, the short film Giftige Gronden, and completing the documentary Outside the Ring.

Lena, a young entrepreneur and city council member, discovers that her town has been polluted for years by a chemical company. As she tries to expose the truth, she realizes that the real problem is not the factory, but a city council that chooses to remain silent.

When a social worker uncovers that a deadly landmine “accident” cannot be an accident at all, he becomes the Netherlands’ first whistleblower. As the government brands him a paranoid schizophrenic, He begins to doubt himself: is he losing his mind — or being destroyed by a system determined to bury the truth?
